How to Help Tenants Access Their Portal if They Forget Their Password

This help article explains how to help tenants access their portal if they forget their password in MagicDoor.

Inside, you'll find:

  • How tenants can sign in using a magic link via email or phone
  • How property managers can reset a tenant's password from the back end
  • How to invite tenants who have not yet activated their portal

Use this article as a reference when a tenant cannot log in or has lost access to their tenant portal.

Tenants can log in without a password using a secure link sent to their email or phone.

Email magic link:

  • The tenant enters their email address on the login screen
  • A secure sign-in link is sent to their email
  • Clicking the link logs them into the tenant portal

Phone number magic link:

  • The tenant enters their phone number on the login screen
  • A secure sign-in link is sent to their phone
  • Clicking the link logs them into the tenant portal

Step 2: Reset a Tenant's Password as a Property Manager

Property managers can reset tenant passwords directly from the back end.

  • From the left-side navigation, select Users
  • Select Tenants
  • Click on the tenant's name
  • Navigate to Activity & Portal Login
  • Choose one of the following:
    • Invite the tenant if they have not been invited yet
    • Change Password to set a new password

Once a new password is set, the tenant will receive a notification with their updated login details.
